On Friday, July 11, Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions will host a historic all-female fight card at Madison Square Garden, headlined by Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano. Over recent months, Turki Alalshikh and Jake Paul have traded shots on social media. But a recent meeting between the two has shocked the boxing world, with Paul teasing future collaborations.
Following Turki Alalshikh’s X post, showing him and Paul together, the internet was full of speculation. “El Gallo” reflected on the meeting with his own X post: “My / MVPs goal has always been to disrupt and grow boxing, and Turki has done that in massive ways. Collaborating only helps ensure boxing, for women and men, continues to grow and regain its place as the biggest sport in the world.”
Many, including myself, wouldn’t have expected to see the word ‘collaboration’ used in the same sentence as Turki Alalshikh and Jake Paul. But it seems a truce has been called.
Could we see “El Gallo” fight on a Riyadh Season card, or will we see MVP’s excellent work in women’s boxing transcend into Riyadh Season?
The involvement of Alalshikh and Riyadh Season in boxing has been praised by the majority, with many criticising the lack of women boxers on the cards. However, with Alalshikh and MVP seemingly on good terms now, this could be a wonderful opportunity for women’s boxing to enter a new stratosphere.
It remains to be seen just how the new friendship between Paul and Alalshikh will develop, but like “El Gallo” said, “Collaborating only helps.”
