It turns out Jake Paul will be fighting on July 20 after all.
His opponent, however, will not be former WBA, WBC, IBF and The Ring heavyweight champion Mike Tyson but instead it’ll be the face of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, Mike Perry, Paul confirmed on Tuesday.
The eight-round bout will take place at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, and can be streamed live on DAZN PPV. Amanda Serrano, who was also scheduled for the original Paul-Tyson fight card, will face Stevie Morgan in the co-main event.
The bout is one that Perry has been advocating for, for quite some time.
“What’s he going to do to me, hit me a couple times?” Perry said during an interview with MMA journalist Ariel Helwani in February 2023. “He’s going to hurt his hands on my face. Then I’m going to beat him down and chase him around the ring and make him tired, hit him in the body, then the face and make him bleed.”
The two reportedly sparred together in the past — an exchange Perry claimed to get the better of.

Perry gets his wish. He recently spoke with Ariel about his sparring session with Jake:
“You know what you would see, you’d watch him punch me as hard as he could and then I smile and then keep coming forward and he… pic.twitter.com/QvMaNF33Qm
Although Paul has made a habit of facing opponents with little or no boxing experience — or former or retired UFC fighters, which Perry is — the 32-year-old striker presents a much better matchup stylistically than some of Paul’s past opponents.
The YouTuber-turned-boxer has fought 10 times over the last three-plus years, but only three of his bouts — Tommy Fury, Andre August and Ryan Bourland — were against fighters with actual boxing experience. August and Bourland lost by knockout, while Fury is the only loss on Paul’s record.
Perry is on a five-fight win streak since joining BKFC, a bare-knuckle boxing promotion that launched in 2018. He’s won his last three fights by knockout or TKO with victories over notable combat sports stars like Eddie Alvarez, Thiago Alves and Luke Rockhold — all three are also former UFC fighters.
The Paul-Tyson fight was rescheduled for Nov. 15 after Tyson had an ulcer flare-up during a flight from Miami to Los Angeles on May 26. Because of the incident, the 57-year-old Tyson had to scale back his training and fight preparation at his doctor’s request.
