On December 19, at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Jake Paul vs Anthony Joshua headlines a Most Valuable Promotions fight card.
This eagerly anticipated heavyweight bout will stream live on Netflix to all subscribers, while the preliminary card will be available through the MVP’s YouTube Channel and Netflix’s Tudum. Ahead of this showdown in Miami, Tony Bellew spoke to Froch on Fighting, where he expressed his doubt that the fight will take place.
Paul-Joshua has received criticism from many people in the build-up. Some said the fight wouldn’t happen, but here we are – it’s fight week.
Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) was last seen in action back in 2024, where he was brutally knocked out in the fifth round by Daniel Dubois.
Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) has been more active than AJ, defeating Julio Cesar Chavez Jr earlier this year, with scorecards of 97-93, 98-92, and 99-91.
Talking to Carl Froch, Bellew expressed his doubt about the fight happening:
“For the life of me, I just can’t genuinely see him getting in the ring, 10oz gloves being on, a bell going.
“I can’t see it. And it’s getting closer. And as each day passes, I keep thinking…(Froch interjects and says, ‘that the fight is off’) And it’s not off.
“And he’s sparring Lawrence Okolie, and he’s sparring how many other heavyweights that are in his camp. And I’m just like, Okay, that’s great. With 16oz gloves on, maybe 20 oz gloves and head guards,” said Bellew.
“He will not have ever felt anything like it when he touches him for the first time with 10z gloves on, and trust me, he’s in for a rude awakening,” added Bellew.
Do you agree with Bellew’s doubts about the fight? How do you see the fight progressing?
