Jermall Charlo says a fight with Jaime Munguia makes the most sense as he pursues a world title at super middleweight, with Houston as his preferred location.
"The fight with [Munguia] makes the most sense. I'd love to fight him right here in Houston. Mexican crowd, sold out," Charlo
Charlo also floated appearing on a Canelo Alvarez card in Mexico, though there's no indication talks with Munguia have begun. He clarified that his "last run" comment refers to chasing a third-division world title rather than retirement, and said he has no plans to move up to light heavyweight.
Munguia's attacking style would test Charlo's output and timing across rounds, not just in short bursts. At 36, Charlo is returning from a 17-month layoff after his May 2025 win over Thomas LaManna, and has fought just three times since 2021, raising questions about whether he has the engine for sustained pressure against a live contender.
