WBO interim heavyweight champion Joseph Parker (36-3, 24 KOs) knocked out the boogeyman, Martin Bakole (21-2, 16 KOs), in the second round of their fight as the co-main to Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol 2. Bakole took the fight on two days’ notice as the IBF champion, Daniel Dubois, fell ill and had to pull out of the fight. Parker continues his winning ways and calls out Oleksandr Usyk for a world title shot.

In the first round, Bakole stood in the middle of the ring, waiting for Parker to throw his punches before he could counter him. Parker used his long left jab to keep Bakole at bay and would slip in an occasional overhand right. Towards the end of the round, Bakole landed a huge right uppercut but could not follow it as the bell rang shortly after.
Early in the second round, Parker loaded up with everything he had and threw an overhand right that landed just above Bakole’s forehead. The 315-pound heavyweight had a delayed reaction, stumbled back, and fell to the canvas. Bakole would get up, but he was in no shape to continue giving Parker the second-round TKO.
