Joshua Buatsi has his first fight under the Queensberry Promotions banner when he takes on Zach Parker on November 1, as we preview the upcoming fight.

Buatsi enters into the fight on a downer, having suffered his first career defeat in February against Callum Smith. That was arguably the biggest name on his resume, as Buatsi now faces a battle to reestablish himself in the 175-pound division. Buatsi has beaten big domestic names such as Dan Azeez and Craig Richards, as he hopes to add another on his list. Parker, meanwhile, has won four fights on the spin since getting stopped by John Ryder in 2022 at super middleweight. Victories over Khalid Graidia, Tyron Zeuge, Jack Arnfield and Mickael Diallo were a much-needed confidence boost.

Pre-Fight

“It just hurt more that I didn’t win. It was a horrible feeling to have lost. “I’ve had a lot of good feedback from people and everything about what a good fight it was. But when you get in a fight like that, a fight that’s competitive and close, you wish you’d come out on top. I’m not the same fighter, and I’m sure he isn’t either. We boxed many years ago as kids. I know that he was close to getting that [Canelo Alvarez] fight. Parker’s no walk in the park. It’s for me to go away, to work hard, come back November 1 and put on a show,” Buatsi said

“Sometimes there’s a lot of fights that get talked about and then they somehow don’t come off. The promoters change their minds on certain fights and, us boxers, we’re just the ones waiting to get a shot. I’ve been in the game for a long time. As soon as I see my face on a poster, that’s when I know the fight’s on so, yeah, I’m raring for it now. I’ve been waiting for a shot like this. Obviously, Buatsi’s a big name. He’s been to Olympics and whatnot and came from the GB squad. That’s exactly how I’m going into this fight, just knowing what’s on for the next bit,” Parker stated
