Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Arrested By ICE Agents

Mexican boxer Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. has been arrested by U.S. immigration officers and is being processed for expedited removal from the country, the Department of Homeland Security said on Thursday as they released a statement.

“The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detained prominent Mexican boxer and criminal illegal alien Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., and is processing him for expedited removal from the United States”.

“Chavez is a Mexican citizen who has an active arrest warrant in Mexico for his involvement in organized crime and trafficking firearms, ammunition, and explosives”.

In August 2023, he entered the country legally with a B2 tourist visa that was valid until February 2024.

Chavez is also believed to be an affiliate of the Sinaloa Cartel, a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization. ICE arrested Chavez in Studio City, California on July 2.

“Under President Trump, no one is above the law — including world-famous athletes,” DHS assistant secretary Tricia McLaughlin said.

Chavez Jr. is the highest profile name to be detained by ice. Recently in the last 30 days there’s been a lot of media attention. Due to ICE detaining a large group of citizens in the Los Angeles area. Primarily targeting the Hispanic community. Stinking fear and angry throughout the community which has resulting in numerous protest in the city. For the most part the protest has been peaceful. but there has been some cases on vandalism with police cars and Waymo cars, limewood scooters. This isolated incident just keep more media attention on the ongoing situation in the area.
