George Kambosos Jr is an Australian professional boxer who has held the unified lightweight championship from 2021 to 2022 and the Ring Magazine title. He also held the IBO lightweight title from 2022 to 2023.
IFL TV has made an announcement through their social media page that Daud Yordan will not clash George due to medical grounds. “George Kambosos will now face Jake Wyllie on Saturday after Daud Yordan was hospitalized and ruled out off the fight on medical grounds. Wyllie is 16-1 and won the Australian 140lbs title at the end of last year,” said IFL TV on X. “Wow! Another one? There has been a lot of injury and illness related replacements so far this year,” said an X user in the comment section.
Daud Yordan is an Indonesian professional boxer and a former IBO featherweight and lightweight champion. The 37-year old was to lock horns with George before sustaining his injuries and admitted to hospital. “Damn former champ! Yordan just pulled out due to medical issues and now is in hospital. Boxing always the unpredictable sport. Most importantly I hope he’s okay as I know he was preparing very hard for this opportunity. Okay! So I’m just going to chill and wait to smack Richie in a few months and take his belt. I’m ready to showcase all the work we have been putting in over the last three months and will give a good local Aussie kid a shot! 5 days out there is no show without me, the undercard needs me and I want them all to shine and be paid for the hard-work they have put in. Australian boxing needs me, and victory no matter what, sets up my world title shot next. 16-1 (15KOs)Jake Wyllie. You are the current Australian 140 national champion, you’re the only one that hasn’t been disrespectful for a payday, and I like how you have gone about your business. So I’m giving you the Rocky shot! But this isn’t a Rocky movie, don’t get it twisted, there is no happy ending. Ferocious statement see-you all on Saturday night. The show goes on, the Ferocious Show,” said George on X.
Jake Wyllie is also an Australian professional boxer under super lightweight division, out of his 16 professional fights, he won 15 of them by knockout and lost one. The 24-year old hails from Queensland, despite being younger than George, he has an opportunity to showcase his boxing skills. “What a year! 2024 has been our best year yet. I worked hard and I couldn’t be more grateful for Coach Luke Meldon, manager Steve Deller and Fortitude gym. We have done so much this year, trips to Thailand, 4 fight camps this year and so much more to finishing off the year as the Australian Champ, I’m grateful for all the lessons and opportunities. To my incredible sponsors, thank you for your continued support this year. Without you all I wouldn’t be able to chase my dreams and greatness. To my family, friends and supporters thank you all for the support this year. You guys never fail to turn up! Wishing you all a safe and happy Christmas and New Year, look out 2025, it’s going to be a huge year, we are only getting started!” said Jake on Facebook.
