Katie Taylor once again emerged victorious in her storied rivalry with Amanda Serrano. Winning their trilogy fight by majority decision to retain her undisputed super lightweight boxing titles on a historic night for women’s boxing.
The Taylor vs. Serrano trilogy fight wasn’t just a historic moment between two of boxing’s greatest it served as the main event of an all women’s card at Madison Square Garden, one of the most significant nights in the history of women’s boxing.
Promoted by Most Valuable Promotions (Jake Paul’s company) and broadcast live on Netflix, the card was a declaration that women’s boxing is no longer a sideshow, it’s the main attraction.

“Thank you, Jesus. I needed a lot of help, a lot of strength today,” Taylor says. “I just want to thank Amanda Serrano. What an amazing fighter. We made history together, three times. It’s such a historic fight and it’s such a privilege to share the ring with her.”
“I thought I was boxing very smart, very well, and she wasn’t catching me with much tonight. But it’s always going to be a very close contest between myself and Amanda. I just thank God that my hand was raised again and I’m 3-0.”
“I can’t tell you how much it means to me that people out there spent their hard earned money to come over and support me, I just love you all, I love my country. Every time I step in here I represent my country, I represent every single one of you guys.”
You can clearly see the disappointment in Amanda Serrano’s face. Knowing that she let the opportunity of a lifetime slip away. During the championship rounds, she was not aggressive enough to take Katie Taylor’s titles and that ultimately caused her the fight. Now she has to walk away from this storied rivalry with some regret knowing that she could have done more to change her outcome. What’s next for Serrano? We don’t know, but we do appreciate her efforts and the heart that she has shown in all three great fights. She is indeed a pioneer in women’s boxing.
