A world title showdown between champion Keyshawn Davis and challenger Edwin De Los Santos is reportedly in the works. While nothing has been officially confirmed, various reports and social media buzz suggest the fight could materialize soon.

Keyshawn Davis (13-0, 9 KOs) recently claimed the WBO lightweight title with a dominant fourth-round knockout over Denys Berinchyk in February in New York. The undefeated 26-year-old from Norfolk, VA, had an impressive 2023, scoring a second-round KO over Gustavo Daniel Lemos, securing a unanimous decision against Miguel Madueno, and stopping Jose Pedraza in the sixth round.

Facing De Los Santos would mark a major test for Keyshawn, as he’d be up against the most dangerous puncher of his career. De Los Santos (16-2, 14 KOs) forced Shakur Stevenson into a defensive approach when they fought in November 2023, with Stevenson avoiding exchanges rather than engaging with his heavy-handed opponent. De Los Santos has remained inactive since then.

The most notable victory of the 25-year-old Dominican’s career came in 2022 when he handed Jose Valenzuela his first defeat, securing a third-round stoppage.

“For sure, Shakur is always my #1 for 135. No, I wouldn’t,” said Keyshawn Davis to The Danza Project on YouTube when asked if he would ever fight Shakur Stevenson.

“For sure, I’m not going to be at 135 for long. S***, I’ve been a pro for three years now.”

“Hell, nah. No,” said Keyshawn when asked if the reason behind his reluctance to face Shakur is that he could beat him.

“ I don’t want to fight him because I just don’t. I’m saying this because I’m just knowing. This is like the kickoff for my career.

“A lot of attention is getting on me. This is like the kickoff, the turning point. So, I got many more years to go. People aren’t going to be talking about this. This is just the beginning. I got 140 and 147, I can touch for sure,” said Keyshawn.
