Matchroom Boxing and DAZN are in Puerto Rico for fight week as they host a junior welterweight title fight on Saturday night live from the Coliseo Roberto Clemente in San Juan. IBF champion Liam Paro (25-0, 15 KOs) will defend his title against undefeated top contender Richardson Hitchins (18-0, 7 KOs).
Paro is fresh off an upset victory over Subriel Matias in June, which earned him the IBF strap. It’s interesting that instead of choosing to go back to Australia, he goes back to Puerto Rico, where he won the title for Saturday’s fight. Paro will be facing a traditional boxer in Hitchins, so he will have to watch the holding in this fight, as it got him a point deducted in the Matias bout.
Hitchins is finally getting the title shot he’s been after for quite some time. Things didn’t appear to be heading in that direction, but his team and promoter were patient, leading to Saturday’s title fight. Hitchins last fought in April, scoring a unanimous decision over Gustavo Lemos in Las Vegas, NV. Hitchins will have to be at his best to come out of Puerto Rico, the IBF junior welterweight champion.
Per DraftKings SportsBook, Liam Paro is the favorite at -120, and Richardson Hitchins is the underdog at +100.
Liam Paro: TKO/KO +550; Decision +140
Draw: +1400
Richardson Hitchins: TKO/KO +700; Decision +150
These timings could change due to the length of the undercard fights.
