The opening round saw neither man commit much offensively aside from the jab. This continued into the second, though Bahdi was starting to connect on his shots. As the fight went on, both fighters were able to land hard shots to the head, but these were few and far between. Bahdi found himself struggling to deal with the movement of Racaza and thus had a difficult time landing.
A left hook to the head in round seven sent Racaza to the canvas. He had little difficulty in getting up and carried on fighting. In the eighth, both men went tit-for-tat with hard hooks to the head, a departure from the lacklustre earlier rounds.

The most action in this fight could be seen in the tenth and final round. Both men exchanged hard shots and did so till the very end of the fight. Despite a commendable effort from Racaza, Bahdi was just slightly better overall over 10 rounds, in addition to having scored a knockdown in round seven. In the end, the judges saw the Canadian doing enough and awarded him the unanimous decision.
