Manny Pacquiao came in heavier Friday afternoon for his welterweight title fight with Mario Barrios than he weighed in over a decade. The legend from the Philippines’ stepped on the Nevada State Athletic Commission’s scale at 146.8 pounds on a stage inside MGM Grand Garden Arena. Where he’ll fight Mario Barrios in a Premier Boxing Champions pay-per-view main event Saturday night. Barrios will defend his WBC belt, officially weighed 146.2 pounds.

The task for both fighters

People are confident that Pacquiao will not look rusty on Saturday. Some people say that he looks like he has not lost a step and that he should be walking away as the new WBC welterweight champion on Saturday night. But nobody would be able to really tell until he steps in the ring with the younger current champion Mario Barrios. Being away from the ring for almost four years is a long time. Which has other people skeptical that Pacquiao would still be able to be the same fighter that he was before he left.

Mario Barrios defended his title against Abel Ramos despite hitting the canvas in that fight. He was able to show heart, but a lot of critics are not sold on his longevity as a champion in the welterweight division. Which is why a lot of experts give Pacquiao a very good shot at winning tomorrow night. Barrios wants to prove that he’s just not here for a short time, but he will be here for a long time as well. Adding Manny Pacquiao name on his resume would be great and will temporarily quit critics until his next fight.
