Floyd Mayweather will box Greek kickboxer Mike Zambidis on June 27 at the Telekom Center, OAKA Olympic Complex, in Athens.
The news comes after reports that Mayweather sued Showtime Sports and its former President Stephen Espinoza, alleging there had been a misappropriation of funds in a $340 million lawsuit. The fight will see Mayweather come to Greece for the first time in his career. His last bout was a win over John Gotti III in their rematch, which took place in 2024. That was a series of exhibitions Mayweather had since retiring from professional boxing with a 50-0 record.
Meanwhile, it has been 11 years since Zambidis’ final professional kickboxing match. Zambidis is known for his aggressive, forward pressure and power. His record stands at 158 wins, 87 knockouts, in 180 professional bouts.
The announcement has caused a stir, as it puts Mayweather’s rumored spring 2026 exhibition against Mike Tyson in doubt. Reports suggested Mayweather and Tyson were negotiating a bout in Africa for March 2026, but with no official confirmation and the Zambidis fight now locked in for June, there are doubts over whether the fight takes place. This was after both fighters had expressed enthusiasm about fighting each other.

“I’ve been doing this for 30 years and there hasn’t been a single fighter that can tarnish my legacy. You already know that if I am going to do something, it’s going to be big and it’s going to be legendary. I’m the best in the business of boxing. This exhibition will give the fans what they want,” Mayweather
“When CSI came to me about stepping in the ring with Floyd Mayweather. I thought, ‘No way this happens,’ but, Floyd said yes. This fight is something neither the world nor I ever thought would or could happen. However, boxing has entered a new era of the unpredictable — and this fight is as unpredictable as it gets. I still can’t believe Floyd wants to really do this. It’s going to be detrimental to his health, but he wants to do it, so it’s signed and it’s happening,” Tyson
