Mike Tyson has said fans can expect a better showing when he faces Floyd Mayweather
The former undisputed heavyweight champion appeared to be done with fighting after losing to Jake Paul by unanimous decision in November 2024.
Tyson did well to go the distance but looked a shadow of his former self at 59 years old.
Now he’s getting ready for an exhibition fight against five-weight world champion Floyd Mayweather, set for 2026.
Mike Tyson recently spoke with People about his third fight since making his return to the ring against Roy Jones Jr. back in 2020.
Tyson feels that being more active has helped him sharpen up, believing each appearance is an improvement over the last.
“It’s going to be really interesting,” he said. “I can’t believe, since the last time I did this, I’ve fought… What? Two times, going on three times. I’ll do better in the next one.”
He was also asked what he took away from sharing the ring with Jake Paul and kept his answer short and simple:
“Just enjoy the moment,” Tyson replied. “This moment’s going to be over. Just enjoy it; it doesn’t last forever.”
“I’m just preparing and looking forward. It’s just a wonderful thing that could happen.”
Tyson has also given his reasons for never considering a move into mixed martial arts, pointing out the financial side of things.
He believes he made more from his fights than any top UFC star could have, and that played a big part in his decision to stay in boxing.
