Mike Tyson has promised he will put on an improved performance against Floyd Mayweather.

The heavyweight boxing legend appeared to be done with fighting after slumping to a unanimous decision defeat against Jake Paul in November 2024.

Mike Tyson did well to go the distance, but looked like a shadow of his former self at 59 years old.

Now he’s preparing to face former five-weight world champion Floyd Mayweather in an exhibition bout scheduled for 2026.

Mike Tyson to embrace the moment

Mike Tyson recently sat down with People to discuss his third fight since returning to the ring against Roy Jones Jr. in 2020.

‘Iron Mike’ believes being active in boxing again means that each of his performances is better than the last.

“It’s going to be really interesting,” Tyson said.

“I can’t believe, since the last time I did this, I’ve fought… What? Two times, going on three times.

“I’ll do better in the next one.”

Tyson was then asked what the biggest takeaway from the fight he had with Jake Paul was.

“Just enjoy the moment,” he replied.

“This moment’s going to be over.

“Just enjoy it, it doesn’t last forever.”

“I’m just preparing and looking forward. It’s just a wonderful thing that could happen.”

Why Mike Tyson will never fight in MMA

Mike Tyson believes he makes more per fight than the top 5 UFC stars combined.

So, that’s why he’s never thought about making the transition from boxing to MMA.

“No,” Tyson said when he was recently asked if he had ever considered a move to MMA.

“Listen, five of the biggest UFC fighters combined couldn’t match my pay.

“I want to be the biggest fighter, the biggest purse. I want all that stuff.

“When Mike Tyson fights, he shuts everything down”.
