Moses Itauma shares something with Mike Tyson, according to a boxing Hall of Famer.

On August 16, the prospect annihilated Dillian Whyte at the ANB Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

It took the 20-year-old just a round to stop ‘The Body Snatcher’. And while Gary O’Sullivan said Itauma hurt Whyte with an illegal blow, for the most part, fans were blown away by the performance.

And now, comparisons between the young star and ‘Iron Mike’ are being drawn by even the greatest minds in the history of the sport.

Roy Jones Jr. says Moses Itauma has something in common with Mike Tyson

Roy Jones Jr. is adamant that there’s something very similar between Moses Itauma and Mike Tyson.

‘Captain Hook’ believes that if an opponent is there to be hit, then the power punchers would take them out.

In an interview with talkSPORT, he said: “Moses reminds me of a young Mike Tyson. And the reason I say that is because when you put someone in front of him who he can hit, they are going down.

Dillian Whyte was a guy who could get hit, and he got him out of there. That is exactly how a young Mike Tyson rolled.

“Mike did that on his way up, I like this from Moses because it is something exciting that he could get to almost what Mike Tyson did.

“That’s a beautiful thought, he may be better or he may not get there, but his potential is seriously exciting.”

In the aftermath of the bout, attention quickly switched to who Itauma will take on next.

The boxer himself said a match-up with Jermaine Franklin looks possible.

However, his manager wants to head in another direction.

Showcasing his faith in his athlete, Francis Warren named the fight he wants for Itauma.
