Oleksandr Usyk Feels ’23’ Ahead of The Daniel Dubois Rematch

Age is going to be a matter of least worry for unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) as far as his boxing career is concerned.

The Ukrainian powerhouse will face IBF champion Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) for the second time, with this fight being for the undisputed heavyweight title at Wembley Stadium on Saturday night. With the fight night approaching, the age difference between the duo has been apparent; at 38, Usyk is 11 years older than his opponent. However, ‘The Cat’ believes that age will be the last thing that will come between him and Dubois.

Talking to Queensberry, Usyk was asked about his grey hair, an apparent sign of his increasing age. But the champ was quick to remind the interviewer that he feels a lot younger than he is.

“I feel for my age, 23 24,” he said.

While he might feel like he is 23, Usyk still believes that he has two fights left before retirement. Rather intending to spend a lot more time with his children.

“I have two boys, now is 12 and 10 years. My boys now need myself, my boys and girl too, my daughter too. I want to give time for my family, for my wife. I want to live with my family, not just sometimes (juggling between training and family),” he said.

Usyk first put his titles on the line against Dubois in 2023, winning the fight via a 9th-round KO. In the two years since that fight, Usyk believes that Dubois has grown as a fighter. However, the only thing that matters to him at the moment is the undisputed title.

“Daniel has grown. He won his last three fights. Daniel is a little bit different for this fight,” he said. “It will be undisputed fight for four belts. Only this for me matters.”

“Chaos In That Ring”

Dubois, on the other hand, will not be letting the mistakes of the last fight show up on Saturday. Talking to Queensberry, he revealed that he has upgraded as a fighter and promised a pandemonium of testosterone-induced pugilism on fight night.

“I learned a lot of lessons from that experience, but I’m ready. I’m resurrected. Chaos in that ring. That’s all I got to say, and then victory,” he said. “I’ve got something to prove. I need to make a statement. I got the skills in me. I just need to bring them out. What better guy to do it against than Usyk.”
