Opetaia Confirms Mikaelian Fight On Benn Card

Jai Opetaia will face WBC cruiserweight champion Norair Mikaelian on September 12 in Las Vegas, Zuffa Boxing announced Tuesday.

The fight lands on the same card as the Ryan Garcia vs. Conor Benn clash, per ESPN. What remains unclear is whether Opetaia's IBF cruiserweight title will be on the line or if the Australian is moving up to challenge for Mikaelian's WBC strap.

Opetaia's Title Picture After Briedis Win

Opetaia has held the IBF cruiserweight belt since 2022 and successfully defended it against Mairis Briedis earlier this year. Mikaelian claimed the WBC title in his most recent outing.

The September 12 card marks Zuffa Boxing's third major event since entering the promotional space. First bell for the Garcia-Benn main event has not been announced.
