PFL’s (Professional Fighters League) new CEO, Paul Martin, might just have a crossover mega fight in his hands. While Jake Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) is currently preparing to face Gervonta Davis (30-0, 28 KOs), the callout from Oleksandr Usyk has added a potential major showdown in the books.
Speaking with Bloody Elbow as the organization prepares to showcase the Champions Series event, Martin revealed that the organization, and more notably its co-founder, Donn Davis, is in constant touch with Paul and MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian.
“I think this is my one-month anniversary, and I’ve been quite busy. But I look forward to that meeting with Bidarian and Paul,” he said, adding that Paul has an avenue if he wishes to transition to MMA anytime. “My understanding is that if Jake decides he wants to fight MMA, he has a relationship with PFL, and we’d be a great place for him to do it. So we’ll wait and see what happens.”
While Paul is usually the first one to call people out, Usyk recently retweeted Paul’s video where he talked about how he wishes to see the next five years of his life turn out.
Good plan, @jakepaul. But I’m not here for 5th place — only first.

Soon, I'll close the book on boxing, and after that, I’ll be waiting for you in the cage. Let’s see if you’ve got the balls or just a hunger for hype. https://t.co/d0IuwLesKX
Notably, while there were outrageous plans, such as fighting on the moon and running a presidential campaign (which might not be that outrageous on second thought), he had mentioned that he wanted to beat Usyk. And it looks like Usyk might have taken offense to the fact that beating him was the fifth thing that Paul wanted to do on his list.
Adding a personal touch to the retweet, Usyk stated that he wants to be the first obstacle that Paul tackles and said that he wishes to fight him in a cage. He further went on to taunt him by stating that he wanted to see if Paul “got the balls or just a hunger for hype.”
When Martin was asked if PFL would provide a platform for this potential fight, his response was one that combat sports fans wished to hear.
“The answer’s yes!” he said. “That’d be amazing. I mean, look, Jake has done extraordinarily well in boxing, and I think he’s surprised a lot of people. And I would love to have the opportunity to consider him doing an MMA fight with PFL.”
While Paul is significantly larger than his upcoming opponent, Davis, his brother Logan Paul believes that this is no reason to undermine his opponent. Using his fight against Floyd Mayweather as an example, Paul urged his brother to stay locked in throughout the fight.
“He’s just got to stay locked in the entire fight with Gervonta because this one is going to be tough, I’m telling you. This is what I realized with Floyd, I’m quick when I’m like 190,” he said, “He’s [Mayweather] so fu**ing hard to hit.”
