On Saturday March 29th, the WBC interim lightweight champion William Zepeda will be in the ring for the second time to face Tevin Farmer in defense of his title. The 12-round bout is slated to take place in Cancun, Mexico.

Tevin Farmer (33-7-1, 8 KOs) has already lost to William Zepeda (32-0, 27 KOs) once in a fight that took place on Latino night on November 16th, 2024, in Riyadh.

This rematch will have two extra rounds making it twelve rounds as compared to the last time they met which was a ten-round bout. During this bout Zepeda was victorious and managed to beat his opponent Farmer by a 10-round split decision.

The fight was close as Zepeda was knocked down in the fourth round after receiving a strong left hand and some powerful shots in the contest. Zepeda came back stronger in the later stages of the fight but could not manage to put his opponent away in the later rounds of the match as Farmer appeared to be outpaced and fatigued as he received fierce body shots.

With two extra rounds in their next meeting, and it being already clear to Zepeda that Farmer gets a bit fatigued in the later stages of the fight, he will be ready to take advantage of this since it might work well for him once Farmer begins to feel exhausted.

This fight might help to determine if Zepeda is ready to face and challenge Shakur Stevenson for the WBC lightweight championship. If he struggles to beat Farmer for the second time, his promoters might have to forget about a match against Stevenson and try to focus on going after the IBF title.
