Regis Prograis got back in the win column Saturday night, earning a clear cut unanimous decision victory over former world champion Joseph “JoJo” Diaz in a high-stakes clash at 140 pounds.

From the opening bell, Prograis showed renewed focus, keeping Diaz at bay with a steady jab and calculated footwork. While Diaz looked to close the distance and land combinations, he struggled to consistently break through Prograis’ defense. The judges’ scorecards 98-92, 96-94, and 96-94 twice.

Throughout the bout, Prograis mixed in sharp counters and occasional body work that kept Diaz from building momentum. While there were brief exchanges in the middle rounds where Diaz landed clean shots, Prograis always responded with the cleaner, more damaging punches.

The judges were in full agreement, scoring the fight unanimously in favor of Prograis, who improves his record and puts himself back in contention in the competitive junior welterweight division.

What’s Next?

Prograis made it clear post-fight that he’s still gunning for another title opportunity. A potential showdown with Teofimo Lopez, Subriel Matías, or a rematch with Devin Haney could be on the horizon.

For Diaz, the loss was another tough setback in his uphill battle to remain relevant across weight classes. While his chin and grit remain intact, the size and pace at 140 may prove too much in the long run.

Devin Haney had a very short, direct, blunt response to Prograis call out on another fight with him. He took to social media right after the fight to let the whole world know. That will be a NO! So much for that idea and Haney closed the door on that possibility.
