Devin Haney (32-0, 15 KOs) is not a big fight, according to Rolando Romero (17-2, 13 KOs).

Romero is fresh off an impressive performance against Ryan Garcia (24-2, 20 KOs) at Times Square in New York City. With a victory under his belt, there have been speculations about a potential showdown between Romero and Haney, who also fought on the same card. However, it looks like Romero isn’t particularly interested in facing ‘The Dream’.

Talking to TMZ Sports, Romero opened up about his recent fight with Garcia, even admitting that he faced a better version of Garcia than Haney did.

“He was better. He was focused. He wasn’t drinking. He wasn’t clubbing. He wasn’t partying around and stuff. I said this better than everyone else, I know him better than he knows himself. And nobody wanted to believe me, he didn’t want to believe me, and I know like everything he’s thinking,” he said.

Romero has his sights set on a big-name fight for the future, albeit unsure of who his future opponent will be. He believes that he has established his name in the big leagues with his recent victories. And that he’ll find a way to make a big fight regardless of the circumstances.

But Haney might not be on this list of potential opponents.

“Haney wasn’t a big fight to begin with. He wasn’t in a big fight when he fought Ryan. And he’s definitely not a big fight after he just became a track star,” he said. “Devin Haney had one exciting fight and that’s when he got his a-- beat by Ryan Garcia.”

“He Just Needs Love”

Despite this, Romero empathizes with Haney after his initial loss to Garcia. He believes that Haney was broken after a fight and needed a lot of support.

“You know, as a father, right, as his father, I just felt like he needed a hug in that moment. I feel like he’s been shattered, and it just takes a while to come back from that. And I feel like he just needs love again,” he said.
