Ryan Garcia (24-2-1, 20 KOs) is eyeing a new fight. With a devastating loss against Rolando Romero (17-2, 13 KOs) marking his return to the ring, it looks like he is in no hurry to avenge his loss. With a new opponent in mind, he was recently seen calling out Teofimo Lopez (22-1, 13 KOs) for a showdown.

Talking on Cigar Talk, Garcia expressed his interest in fighting Lopez while trashing any rights that Shakur Stevenson had in the matchup.

“That’s the one I want. It makes me excited because I come back and beat Rolly. They’re like, ‘Yeah, you beat Rolly. Who cares?’ If I come back and beat Teofimo, that’s a bigger statement. I know everybody would count me out again, just like Devin Haney,” he said.

He stated that the fight excites him the most because he feels the timing will be perfect, and he will be more involved in the fight. Moreover, he has a lot of confidence in his style and claimed that he’d be able to easily beat Lopez and leave him “swollen up” like Haney.

Lopez is fresh off a showdown against Arnold Barboza Jr., where he retained his WBO and The Ring light welterweight titles. On the other hand, Garcia’s plans to face Lopez instead of a rematch with Romero have certainly brought in mixed responses from fans.

When Garcia was told that Lopez was eyeing a Stevenson fight, his response was undoubtedly incendiary as usual.

“I don’t want to see that sh*t. I want to see us go,” he said. “I just don’t think it would be as exciting as me and Teofimo.”

“Scared of Rolly power”

Meanwhile, Garcia’s words haven’t sat well with Stevenson. He took to social media to call out Garcia, stating that he was scared of facing Romero.

“Man just admitted to be scared of rolly power, My bad for thinking it wasn’t the best version of him,” he wrote.I’m not mad at all Ryan; How can I be? U got embarrassed your last fight against Rollies.”
