Ryan Garcia Predicts Conor Benn's Tactics

Ryan Garcia expects Conor Benn to lean on physicality and pressure rather than boxing skill in their September 12 welterweight clash at T-Mobile Arena.

"The idea is to be prepared for anything. I understand this guy is not on my level and can't keep up with my punches. So his game plan is going to be quite simple. He's going to try and rough me up, try to be a little dirty, and get in there as fast as he can. So, just be trained for anything. We trained very hard, so anything he throws at us," Garcia

Garcia holds clear speed, height and counter-punching advantages, meaning Benn will likely need to cut off the ring and work close to have success, targeting the body — an area Garcia has shown vulnerability in before, including against Gervonta Davis. Garcia's shoulder-roll defense against the ropes could also present openings if he over-rotates.

The pace figures to be a key factor, with Garcia at his best working in bursts and Benn needing to deny him rest by staying in his face and pushing the workrate.
