Lightweight contender Floyd Schofield (19-0,12 KOs) wasted no time and stopped Tevin Farmer (33-10-1, 8 KOs) in the first round of their fight that opened up the Jake Paul vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. DAZN PPV card.
After the fight, Schofield told Ariel Helwani, “It just feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.” Schofield said he owed a great deal to his son, as he had considered quitting the sport after the debacle in Saudi Arabia. His promoter Oscar De La Hoya was all smiles as he told Helwani that the future looks bright for his lightweight contender.
Farmer began the fight with his right jab, but only seconds into the round, Schofield landed a right hook that sent Farmer down for the first knockdown of the fight. Farmer would beat the count, but then was met with a left hook, sending him down again. Schofield smelled blood in the water and jumped all over him, leading to the referee to stop the fight. Farmer was in no condition to continue, and the stoppage was merited.
After this performance, Schofield goes right back to being on the doorstep of a world title fight.
