The fight will serve as the co-feature to the long-awaited Artur Beterbiev-Dmitry Bivol undisputed light heavyweight championship fight. The fight was initially take place in June but got delayed due to Beterbiev suffering a ruptured meniscus in training. This card has gotten even stronger with the addition of Stevenson defending his belt.
“Stevenson’s talented and young and if he’s smart, we will do a lot of things with him. There’s a big fight with him in the future.”
Stevenson (22-0, 10 KOs) is a champion in three divisions, Stevenson, 27, was promoted by Top Rank since his pro debut. Now, the boxer from Newark, New Jersey, will fight under the Riyadh Season banner. Stevenson has called out Tank Davis to try to lure a mega fight in the lightweight division. The champion has also called out Vasyl Lomachenko but Lomo said that he wanted to take the rest of the year off to be with his family. Without a doubt it’s looking like all of the top names in the division don’t want to fight Stevenson.
Stevenson style makes him a high risk fight for everyone in the division. Also being an elite fighter can make him not as attractive as him being an action fighter. With a impressive showing, Stevenson could possibly lure in a big name for 2025 so this fight against Cordina is very important for his future.
