Stephen A Smith Breaks His Silence On His Relationship With Molly Qerim Following Her Abrupt ESPN Departure

ESPN’s Stephen A Smith spoke candidly about his relationship with Molly Qerim while on ‘Funky Friday’ with Cam Newton this week.

Qerim announced her departure from ‘First Take’ and ESPN last September after spending a decade with the company.

Reports revealed that the former host rejected a contract extension from The Worldwide Leader in Sports. The company has since replaced her with former ‘SportsCenter’ anchor Shae Cornette.

As for Stephen A, the outspoken ESPN host was a guest on Newton’s show this week, where he was asked about his relationship with Molly.

He made it clear that he had nothing to do with her exit. He claimed that they remain friends, although they do not speak very often.

Smith praised Cornette for the wonderful work she’s done since filling the role. However, he repeated several times that he missed his former co-host.

The controversial sportscaster also said he formed a bond with Molly during their time working together, which still exists.

Qerim announced earlier this year that she would be covering Zuffa Boxing on Paramount+.

Stephen A Smith Gives Clear Response After Cam Newton Asks Whether He Will Run For President

Smith discussed several topics with Cam, including the former quarterback bringing rival Jason Whitlock on to speak about him.

The 58-year-old said he didn’t have any issues with Newton inviting Whitlock on his show, but had a problem with the latter being allowed to lie about him without any questioning.

Also of note, Smith gave an unambiguous answer when asked whether he would run in the next presidential election.

He explained his love for politics, saying the Super Bowl is the only thing he enjoys more than the presidential debate. But he stated without equivocation that he would not run, insisting that he would not give up his lucrative salary and quality of life to enter the political arena.
