Terence Crawford (42-0, 31 KOs) recently announced his retirement from professional boxing via a video released by The Ring Magazine. He did what only a few in history have done, retiring at the very top of the sport.

In the lead-up to his announcement, Crawford was stripped of his super middleweight title by the WBC due to non-payment of sanctioning fees, resulting in him losing his undisputed status. The Omaha native will forever be remembered as one of the greatest fighters of all time. After his retirement, Crawford appeared on a Kick stream with Adin Ross and revealed whether he was offered the Canelo rematch.

‘I did it my way:’ Terence Crawford retires from professional boxing

Announcing his retirement in the video, the Omaha native said:

“Every fighter know this moment will come. We just never know when. I spent my whole life chasing something. Not belts. Not money. Not headlines. But, the feeling you get when the world doubts you. But you keep showing up. You keep proving everyone wrong. This sport gave me everything. I fought for my family. I fought for my city. I fought for the kid I used to be. The one who had nothing but a dream and a pair of gloves.  And, I did it my way.”

Terence Crawford reveals whether he was asked about Canelo rematch

On a recent visit to TV Azteca, Canelo confirmed that he desired the Terence Crawford rematch after he had recovered from his elbow surgery in October.

It now appears Canelo will not get his wish, but when talking to Adin Ross, Crawford was asked whether his team were contacted by team Canelo about a rematch, and the Omaha native gave a blunt response: “Never.”

When asked whether he would have granted that rematch to the Mexican, the 38-year-old said:

“It’s over with. If there was a rematch clause in the contract, then I’d have to honour it, but it’s over with.”
