Ryan Garcia has reignited debate around Terence Crawford’s legacy after questioning his résumé in a recent appearance.
Speaking on Creators Think Podcast, Garcia suggested Crawford had not faced enough young, elite opposition.
“I think that Terrence hasn’t fought any young, hungry and talented fighters. If you look at his résumé, he fought what? Errol Spence, he was already older. He fought Canelo, already older. Name one guy he fought that was a young lion. You can’t name them, because he hasn’t done it,” he said.
Those words quickly drew attention given Crawford’s standing as one of boxing’s most accomplished champions.
The situation escalated this Monday, when both fighters engaged directly on social media.
As Garcia presviously pointed to Crawford’s victories over Errol Spence and Canelo Alvarez, arguing both were older at the time of those bouts, ‘Bud’ responded on X, questioning that logic by pointing out he is older than both fighters himself.
“Ryan Garcia, you do know I’m older than Spence and Canelo right?” he asked.
Garcia replied by clarifying his point, stating: “I was talking boxing years champ, there’s no doubt you got more in the tank than them. That is not a knock on you though, you kept your body in top condition. But there’s a lot of young hungry fighters that wanted that work that you never let challenge you.”
‘King Ryan’ also added: “I believe Terrence left more of his legacy on the table. Just my opinion. Undisputed don’t mean anything if you know truly you didn’t challenge yourself. I’m speaking from knowing boxing and speaking from the heart as a fighter. Not just some random that can only see the surface level of the game.”

Crawford’s career achievements remain central to the debate, having compiled an unbeaten 42-0 record with multiple world titles across divisions and undisputed success at welterweight.
Despite Ryan’s criticism, the 38-year-old is widely regarded as one of the top pound-for-pound fighters ever due to his dominance and consistency.
