Terence Crawford’s trainer reveals how many fights remain

The boxing world is still buzzing about Terence Crawford’s masterful win against Canelo Alvarez on September 13 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, which crowned him the undisputed super middleweight champion.

Attention quickly turned to what the Omaha native might do next. Speaking to Fight Hub TV, Crawford’s trainer Brian ‘Bomac’ McIntyre revealed how many fights he believes ‘Bud’ has left.

Crawford (42-0, 31 KOs) was confident before the Canelo (63-3-2, 39 KOs) fight, and that confidence only grew as he stayed mobile, timed his attacks, and strung together fast, sharp combinations.

As the fight progressed, Crawford sat down on his punches and even pushed Canelo back.

It was a deserved win, with the judges’ scorecards reading 116-112 and 115-113 (x2) in favour of Crawford.

When asked if he felt Crawford should retire, McIntyre said: 

“Well, you know what? He made it look so easy. S**t. Two, three more (Fights) in him. Training camp, we’ll try harder.”

McIntyre was then asked if a move to 160 could be on the cards, and said: “I mean, if he wanna do it, you know. Be a challenge, if he wanna challenge himself, I don’t mind.”

Terence Crawford’s future

Whatever Crawford decides to do next, the Canelo victory has ensured his legacy will live on. The Omaha native remains undefeated and could easily retire at the top of boxing. 

McIntyre’s words to Fight Hub TV make it seem the fire still burns in Crawford. 

A rematch with Canelo appears to be the most financially rewarding bout, but a move to 160 would provide him the opportunity to create more history in another weight class.
