The calendar has turned the page, and we are now officially in the last month of 2024, which means the most significant heavyweight rematch in recent years is quickly approaching. Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) vs. Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) takes place on December 21 on DAZN PPV, and to kick off the month, Riyadh Season has released the official trailer for the fight, and it’s a creative masterpiece. The Saudis have done it again but this trailer may just be the best of them all.
The theme of the trailer is perfect. Usyk and Fury thrive in the gamesmanship before the actual fight as Fury is in your face with it, while Usyk is subtle but still effective. When thinking of the concept for a trailer, why not take their strengths and put it on the big screen. That’s precisely what was done here, as there is a mixture of A Nightmare on Elm Street and The Matrix all wrapped in one.
The press release by Riyadh Season goes into more detail about the concept of the trailer and those involved.
This obsession is not just limited to the fans, however. Usyk and Fury cannot stop thinking about each other either. Set to Kylie Minogue’s ‘Can’t Get You Out of My Head,’ the trailer delivers surreal and comedic moments of Fury and Usyk in their daily lives that captures the all-consuming obsession between the two rival fighters, continuing on the theme of their friendly rivalry which has seen them exchange amusing quips at press conferences and through videos on their social media channels.
In the film, Fury sees Usyk everywhere and even his family morph into Usyk’s while, similarly, Usyk imagines Fury far and wide, including on a sausage-a fun nod to Fury’s regular ‘sausage’ taunts. Big Time Creative Shop, recently recognized as the Fastest Growing Agency in MENA for 2024 at the prestigious MENA Efe Awards, are behind the latest bold concept, which has been directed by award-winning French collective Megaforce and produced by Rif Raf Films.
