Three accomplished boxers are set to be inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2026, with Gennadiy Golovkin headlining the class.

A few months back, Ryan Garcia faced criticism for saying that Gennadiy Golovkin did not have a Hall of Fame-calibre career.

It had already been announced that ‘GGG’ would lead the IBHOF ballot after he vacated several titles following his second defeat to Canelo Alvarez in 2022.

Golovkin is now focused on a new challenge: aiming to become the president of World Boxing after an illustrious career inside the ring.

On Thursday, several other notable names joined him as inductees into the Hall of Fame class of 2026.

Gennadiy Golovkin, Nigel Benn, and Antonio Tarver named in 2026 Hall of Fame class

Despite his two defeats to Canelo Alvarez – one fight ending in a highly disputed draw – Golovkin’s dominance at middleweight leaves little doubt about his place in the Hall of Fame.

A second former champion from the division was also added to the list on December 5, joining the Kazakh among the 2026 inductees.

Not long after Conor Benn’s dominant win over Chris Eubank Jr., his father Nigel was confirmed as part of the Hall of Fame class of 2026.

Benn retired in 1996 but made an attempt to return nearly a quarter-century later. Over his 48-fight career, he held both the WBO middleweight and WBC super middleweight titles.

‘The Dark Destroyer’ had two iconic bouts with his greatest rival, Chris Eubank. He lost a world title and defended one in these two meetings, being stopped in their first encounter and drawing with Eubank in their 1993 rematch.

Antonio Tarver also joins this group, recognised for his achievements in the light heavyweight division.

Tarver made headlines when he became the first fighter to stop Roy Jones Jr. in 2004 and later secured a second win over Jones during their trilogy bout a year later.
