Top Rank has released Olympic silver medalist Keyshawn Davis from his promotional contract with one fight still remaining on the deal.

Bob Arum confirmed the split to Joe Profit of the O.S.O.S. podcast, as Bad Left Hook reported. Arum said Davis requested the release and Top Rank granted it without pursuing legal action. The lightweight had turned down more than $2 million to face Devin Haney for the WBO welterweight belt despite Top Rank securing him a mandatory challenger spot.

Davis Demands $6 Million For Hitchins Fight

Davis has not fought since missing weight ahead of a planned lightweight title defense against Edwin De Los Santos last year. The Norfolk native then attacked Nahir Albright backstage after Albright beat his brother. Per Richardson Hitchins, Davis recently asked for $6 million to face the unbeaten welterweight — three times his largest career purse to date and double the Haney payday he rejected.

The 15-0 Davis never competed at 147 pounds before Top Rank positioned him as Haney's mandatory. He is now a free agent hunting a deal as an untested welterweight. Hitchins has moved on to other options after negotiations collapsed over the purse demand.

Davis has not announced his next move or indicated which promoter he plans to sign with. No timeline has been set for his return to the ring.
