The boxing world continues to rally around one of its biggest names following a tragic crash in Nigeria that claimed the lives of two people closely connected to a former heavyweight champion. As reactions pour in from across the sport, the moment has drawn responses that go beyond rivalry, highlighting the human side of a business often defined by competition.

Among those to publicly respond was Tyson Fury, who shared his condolences via Instagram after news of the crash became widely known. Fury reposted an image honoring the two men identified as close friends and coaches of Anthony Joshua, using his platform to acknowledge the loss and express sympathy.

‘This is so sad. May God give them a good bed in heaven,’ Fury wrote on his Instagram Story.

The image Fury shared featured a collage of photos showing Joshua alongside the two men, accompanied by the message ‘RIP Latz and Sina,’ identifying them as figures from Joshua’s inner circle who were killed in the crash. The post quickly circulated online, drawing attention for its tone and the rare public show of empathy between two fighters whose careers have long been linked by rivalry and unfinished business.

According to reports from Ring Magazine, Joshua was a passenger in a vehicle involved in a collision with a stationary truck along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State, Nigeria. While Joshua reportedly sustained minor injuries, two occupants of the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene. Local authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Fury’s response stands out not only because of his stature in the sport, but because of the history between the two heavyweights. Years of negotiations, public back-and-forth, and unrealized superfight plans have defined much of their relationship. In this moment, however, the focus shifted away from the ring and toward shared respect in the face of personal loss.

As the boxing community continues to process the tragedy, Fury’s message joins a growing list of reactions offering condolences and support. The incident has temporarily paused conversations about future fights and timelines, replacing them with a reminder that, even at the highest levels of the sport, moments like these transcend competition.
