Tyson Fury Should Stay Retired – Here’s Why

Tyson Fury has been linked with a comeback, but should he stay retired?

Fury has recently returned to training with SugarHill Steward amid speculation he could come out of retirement. Fury walked away from boxing after two losses to Oleksandr Usyk. He disputed the results of the two fights, when the majority of the boxing fanbase clearly had Usyk winning. The CompuBox numbers and the AI-scoring had Usyk as the better fighter. Fury accused Usyk of getting the decision in the first fight due to the Russia-Ukraine war, while he doubled down that he had won the second fight.

Fury’s stock has dropped, as he is no longer the best heavyweight of his era. His comments also backfired when he referred to Usyk as a blown-up cruiserweight and rabbit. Uysk’s popularity has grown massively, as he is likely to sell out for his next fight against Daniel Dubois for the Undisputed Heavyweight Title.

Fury’s only other big fight is against Anthony Joshua. The fight has less appeal since the two are no longer in their prime. Joshua was knocked out badly against Dubois in his last fight, as questions remain over whether he still has the hunger to succeed. Joshua also arguably has a possible Deontay Wilder fight still on the table, which is winnable.

John Fury’s Role

John Fury has also alienated the boxing fanbase, saying Fury was robbed of his belts. John did not help matters in the build-up for the first Fury-Usyk fight. He heabutted a member of Usyk’s entourage, resulting in mass condemnation from the boxing world. John Fury has also been firing verbal shots at SugarHill Steward. He has criticized his role for the Fury losses, saying he was the one that saved his son from getting knocked out in the first Usyk fight. John has been on record, calling for SugarHill to get fired. The antics from Team Fury have resulted in mass backlash from boxing fans.

“If it wasn’t for me in his corner, he’d have been knocked out, simple as that. He was listening to the wrong instructions and he got caught, going to the left of a southpaw. I’m a southpaw, you don’t go to the left on me, because I’ll catch you. He was listening to the ill advice.

“Too many people in the corner. I’m his father, he not only stayed in the fight, he shared the 10th because his legs was done in the 10th. He was a miracle man to get out of the 9th round, but it was me who kept him in there. If it had been left to them, he’d have been knocked out,” John Fury said
