At the beginning of 2025, Tyson Fury seemed to be heading into a showdown with Joshua, his longtime opponent.
He appeared to have massive opportunities ahead of him, though those plans were suspended when he declared his retirement.
The next course of action for Tyson Fury is still unclear, but it seems that the former world titlist is still retired, as no news has featured about a potential bout.
Last year, Fury was thrashed twice by Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk as he lost his world belt before failing to emerge victorious and win it back in an immediate rematch. The former heavyweight world titlist lost two bouts of the highest calibre against Oleksandr Usyk last year, but astonished boxing last month when he disclosed he would walk away from the sport.
Usyk was a worthy conqueror in both matches, but despite the Ukrainian bagging both fights, Fury was able to make both bouts competitive throughout.
However, former world champion Carl Froch has said Fury’s retirement is short-lived.
“Tyson Fury will get bored at some point and come back. But I'm not that excited about him coming back. Who's he going to fight? Anthony Joshua and that’s it. Tyson is not going to want to get splattered again, is he?” said Carl Froch in an exclusive sit-down with CoinPoker.
Elsewhere, Fury has recently embarked on training with SugarHill Steward amid speculation he could get out of retirement.
Fury’s only other big bout is against Anthony Joshua. Nonetheless, as it is now, the fight has less demand because the pair is no longer in their prime. Joshua was humiliated badly by Dubois in his last match, and questions linger over whether he still has the desire to succeed.
