What to Expect from Hamza Uddin

The Matchroom NXTGEN card will be headlined by Peter McGrail, who will be eager to return to winning ways against Marc Leach in a super bantamweight clash. The undercard will see some highly rated prospects attempting to move their careers in the right direction. One to watch on this card is Uddin on his professional debut after a decorated amateur career – winning eight national championships and three GB championships while becoming the youngest ever to win two senior elite national titles.

In an interview with Boxing Social, Jones couldn’t hide his excitement about Uddin and said: “Luckily for you, he can fight like fuck Matt.” He continued describing his ability: “Brilliant, brilliant talent, ferocious puncher. Loads of ability, flair, he’s got everything, he really has, and I’m so excited to watch his fight on Saturday (April 27).”

Jones added: “For once I don’t want to speak too much about it. I want people to see, tune in and watch this kid because he is very special.”

Analysing Uddin

Uddin enjoyed an exceptional amateur career, with high hopes he can replicate that success in the professional ranks. He has weighed in at 115.3 lbs for his debut, and it’s a debut that looks set to be an entertaining one.

He punches at an impressive volume, but the accuracy of his punches and the variety stands out the most. The Walsall native is a handful and looks set to be a fascinating addition to professional boxing. April 27 will be the first step of what could be a very special career for the talented Hamza Uddin.
