Vasiliy Lomachenko ending retirement, eyes big fights

Vasiliy Lomachenko is ending his retirement, his manager announced on Wednesday.

"We are working on his comeback this fall," Egis Klimas told ESPN.

Lomachenko, 18-3 with 12 knockouts when he retired last summer, just became a free agent on Tuesday and will be looking to secure high-profile fights as part of his return.

The 38-year-old has held world titles in the featherweight, super featherweight and lightweight divisions. Those championships followed an impressive amateur run which included two Olympic gold medals for his native Ukraine (2008, 2012) as well as a 396-1 overall record.

"Hi Tech" last fought in 2024, when he defeated former lightweight champion George Kambosos Jr. in Perth, Australia by TKO. After being unable to secure a fight after that, Lomachenko eventually mulled and then announced his retirement.
