After his first round knockout loss to Moses Itauma, Dillian Whyte’s next steps are uncertain.

Whyte is in the latter part of his career, knowing a title shot may not be achievable. That has left Whyte with a decision to make. He could have a third fight with Derek Chisora. Whyte has already beaten him twice in fights that were very competitive. Chisora is also expected to retire in his next fight, offering b oth men an opportunity to sign off their careers with a win.

The fight also offers Whyte the chance to secure another big purse since it is a big domestic clash that would sell out. Chisora’s style is well-known: a relentless, come-forward pressure fighter who looks to land big, looping hooks. He lacks the speed and technical precision that troubled Whyte against Itauma.

Another alternative to face is Otto Wallin. Wallin is a slick, southpaw with good footwork and a solid jab. This presents a unique challenge for Whyte, who often relies on his aggression. To beat Wallin, Whyte would have to show patience and discipline. He’d need to cut off the ring, work behind his jab, and avoid lunging in, which has left him vulnerable to uppercuts in the past, as per the Tyson Fury loss. A win would be a strong name on his record.

Johnny Fisher could also come into the conversation. Fisher is an aggressive fighter who is still learning his trade. He has the power but can be tactically raw and open to counters. Fisher showed this in his loss to Dave Allen, as the latter overpowered him to secure an explosive knockout win. That was Fisher’s first defeat, leaving him with a decision to make over his next opponent.

Martin Bakole is arguably the most difficult on the list. He has fast hands and devastating one-punch power. Whyte would have to survive the early rounds, weather the storm, and hope to wear Bakole down. Bakole has been known to tire later in fights, as shown in his Joseph Parker loss, although he did not have the best training camp for the fight having taken it on short notice. Either way, Whyte has plenty to consider.
