Alex Krassyuk left Oleksandr Usyk, raising question marks over the reasons.
Krassyuk has guided Usyk to becoming a two-weight undisputed champion at cruiserweight and heavyweight. The Ukrainian is currently undefeated with a 23-0 record, with 14 knockouts to his name. Usyk will now be preparing to face Daniel Dubois for the Undisputed Heavyweight Title without his long-term promoter. The exact reasons for the departure have not been disclosed as we look at the possibilities.
Usyk is approaching the latter end of his career, with retirement on the horizon. His brand has expanded globally since the Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua wins, meaning the Ukrainian is capable of marketing himself. That allows Usyk to cut out the middleman, allowing him to speak directly to any networks, thus increasing his earnings.
Usyk and Krassyuk have also reached the pinnacle of their careers during their time together. Undisputed at cruiserweight and heavyweight, alongside a stellar amatuer career, mean there is not a lot more to achieve. Krassyuk is also on record, saying that they have “completed the mission impossible.”
The move could also signal a shift in Usyk’s promotional plan.
The Ukrainian has spoken openly about his desire to potentially box Alex Pereira. The latter has said he wants to transition into boxing, allowing Uysk to secure a mega purse in a crossover fight. Usyk is also not against the idea of fighting Jake Paul in MMA as the latter waits for his PFL debut. Usyk has an MMA background in wrestling and jiu-jitsu, allowing him to secure a lucrative deal if the terms are right. Regardless, Krassyuk had nothing but positive words to say over Usyk.
“It’s been a tremendous journey — 12 years of unbelievable success. Two young dreamers met each other to change the game. “Back in 2013, I gave you my word — and I kept it. At the time, no one believed we were capable of achieving what we set out to do. But by the grace of God, we completed the mission impossible […]. A dream come true!!! Thank you for all we’ve gone through and for the honor to be the lifetime promoter of the Double Undisputed. May the Lord bless you and guide your next steps. Thanks God for everything,” Krassyuk said
