Manny Pacquiao’s manager has dismissed any chance of the boxing legend stepping into the ring with Jake Paul.
Pacquiao, now 46, is eyeing a return in March next year but still doesn’t have an opponent lined up.
Rolly Romero, the WBA welterweight titleholder, is currently leading the race to be his next opponent.
There’s also been talk of a rematch with Floyd Mayweather, which would no doubt be a massive draw if it came together.
Jake Paul’s boxing ambitions won’t include a bout with Manny Pacquiao, according to the Filipino legend’s camp.
While he’s open to exploring various fights, Sean Gibbons says Jake Paul is one that will never happen – regardless of the payday.
Pacquiao is more interested in credible matchups within his natural weight class, rather than taking on a much heavier and inexperienced opponent like Paul.
“You know what? Manny is different than other people,” Gibbons told Betway.
“Manny’s a real fighter. He’s a man of honor. Manny fights for money when it makes sense. He just doesn’t fight for money to fight for money.
“If he got offered $35 million, he still wouldn’t be interested. Manny wants to win real fights in his weight, not like Gervonta Davis, who is looking to cash in. Manny has never been about freak shows.
“Plus, the size difference, too. Manny’s at 147 lbs and Jake Paul is 200 lbs, so Manny is not going to do a fight like that.
“I don’t think I’ll ever see Manny doing any of those types of fights. I see him taking on a real fight like Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis.”
Jake Paul will step into the ring with Anthony Joshua in Miami, Florida, on December 19.
The bout is widely seen as a mismatch, with many expecting the former two-time heavyweight world champion to have the upper hand.
When asked about how Paul should approach the challenge, Manny Pacquiao kept it simple.
Asked if he was ever approached about the possibility of fighting Paul, Pacquiao replied that it was “impossible”. Even for an exhibition bout in his retirement, he only ever got to a peak weight of 161lb, while the social media star is best-known for fighting around 200lbs.
