Just before his expected final professional bout when he faces Deontay Wilder on Saturday, Derek Chisora has asked UFC CEO Dana White for a promotional role in Zuffa Boxing.
Chisora enters the Wilder bout on a three-fight win streak, including his win against Otto Wallin in February 2025. A win over Wilder would be the biggest of his career, allowing him to end his career with a victory in front of his home fans at the O2 in London.
Rather than heading for a quiet retirement, the 42-year-old is looking to join the executive ranks of Zuffa Boxing. Chisora’s interest in Zuffa signals a desire to step away from the established UK promotional powerhouses and align himself with the “UFC-style” production White is bringing to boxing.
“I’m going to ask Zuffa to see if they give me a job to promote for them. Dana, can I have a job? Please have a job. First one can be Eddie versus Dana. I would deal with anybody in London for you,” Chisora said
Chisora’s greatest asset for Zuffa Boxing is his status as an elder statesman of British boxing. Dana White has often struggled in the UK boxing scene due to the dominance of established promoters. Chisora provides an immediate bridge to that market. Even at 42, Chisora’s ability to headline the O2 Arena against Deontay Wilder—and sell out the venue—proves his enduring commercial power.
Dana White’s promotion style relies on personalities who understand that the fight starts before the bell. Chisora is perhaps the most “UFC-ready” personality in boxing. He understands the entertainment aspect of the sport better than almost anyone, which aligns perfectly with the “Zuffa-style” production.
Chisora has 50 professional fights under his belt against the very best of his era (Fury, Usyk, Vitali Klitschko). This makes him an ideal talent scout or matchmaker. He understands the “levels” to the game and can identify which prospects can make it.
