Tony Vitello and the Tennessee Volunteers entered Sunday's action with their season on the line. But after falling to the Arkansas Razorbacks 11-4 in Game 2 of the Fayetteville Super Regional, their 46-19 campaign came to an end.

To the coach's credit though, he reportedly stuck around and made sure to congratulate every member of Arkansas' team on advancing in the NCAA Baseball Championship.

Something folks certainly appreciated on social media:

"The best in the business, the man in that is," a fan said. "Tony V and staff is the real deal."

"vitello just cares so much about the game, he really is a nice dude if he isn't trying to beat you in baseball lol," another laughed.

"Tony is my favorite head coach in college baseball, knows when to get angry at the umpires, and when to accept defeat graciously and be proud for the opponent," a user commented.

"That's our coach!" a UT fan exclaimed.

"I love that dude man," another person replied.

"Very good move by him. Mutual respect, extreme competitiveness, and warriors."

"What is a true champion and who represents true Sportsmanship. Thank you to @Vol_Baseball @Tonyvitello16," another user tagged the university.

It was a bit of a stumble to the finish line for Vitello's Vols who went almost 18 months without losing an SEC weekend series, only to drop five of their last six down the stretch.

The streak of repeat champions in college baseball will now extend to 14 years with Tennessee's early exit. Which is understandable when you think about the amount of talent they lost to the MLB Draft after last season.

The Razorbacks now punch their ticket to Omaha where they'll compete in the College World Series against fellow conference rival LSU.
