All-Conference Transfer Visits Texas A&M

Texas A&M basketball is remaining active in the transfer portal despite the uncertainty surrounding its coaching situation. While he garners interest from Maryland, Aggies head coach Buzz Williams is still looking to rebuild Texas A&M’s roster. The Aggies have shown interest in several players since the transfer portal opened last week, and the list keeps growing.

The Aggies hosted Northern Colorado transfer guard Langston Reynolds for a visit Sunday as they look to reload their roster. Reynolds is one of the most efficient and productive transfers available, as he averaged 16 points per game and shot 59.3% from the field this season. After only starting three games in his first two seasons combined, Reynolds started all 34 games he appeared in this season with Northern Colorado.

Reynolds was Northern Colorado’s second leading scorer in the 2024-25 season and led the Bears to a share of the Big Sky regular season title and their first ever NIT appearance. He earned a spot on the All-Big Sky first team and capitalized on his career year by entering the transfer portal.

Northern Colorado has produced two notable high-major transfers in recent years and Reynolds seems poised to join that group. Former Tennessee star and current Los Angeles Lakers guard Dalton Knecht transferred from Northern Colorado. Knecht made a seamless transition to the SEC, as he averaged a career-high 21.7 points per game and won 2024 SEC Player of the Year. While Knecht was a more prolific scorer, Reynolds could follow a similar path to success in the SEC.

Last offseason, USC guard Saint Thomas transferred from Northern Colorado, making the jump to a major conference. While Thomas’ numbers aren’t as eye-popping as Knecht’s, he started each of USC’s 33 games this season and is another example of a Northern Colorado star successfully jumping to a high-major school.

Texas A&M will have to replace most of its senior-laden roster through the portal this offseason, regardless of who the head coach is. Guard sticks out as a position of need, which is why Reynolds is a priority target for the Aggies. Texas A&M will return almost none of its guard production in 2025, so Reynolds would be a significant signing.

If Williams does stay in College Station, Reynolds is exactly the type of guard that fits in his system. Reynolds is an explosive athlete and a solid rebounding guard, as he averaged 5.6 rebounds per game this season. These traits align with Texas A&M’s style of play, as the Aggies have prioritized physicality and rebounding under Williams. The 6-foot-4 Reynolds could fill the void left by guards Zhuric Phelps and Manny Obaseki, both of whom are out of eligibility.

Amidst the chaos of the coaching carousel, it is a good sign that the Aggies are staying active in the transfer portal. While it is not necessarily a sign that Williams is staying, it does show that Texas A&M will be a player in this year’s cycle. Texas A&M’s ability to remain a contender for top transfer prospects like Reynolds signals that the program is determined to remain competitive in the SEC.
