Boston College to play through COVID-19 crisis

The Boston College Eagles remain scheduled to host the No. 20-ranked Florida State Seminoles on Tuesday despite facing a worrisome COVID-19 crisis.

As ESPN's Myron Medcalf reported, Boston College hasn't competed since suffering an 80-70 loss to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Jan. 16, and the Eagles are down to four scholarship players available for Tuesday's game against Florida State because of coronavirus-related protocols. Walk-on Andrew Kenny has only five points this season but will be in the starting lineup versus the Seminoles.

"Our administration made the decision that the game needs to be played," Boston College head coach Jim Christian told reporters on Monday. "They know how I feel about it, but once that decision is made my job is to get these guys ready. To let you know, we've spent the last two days trying to teach five guys our basic defense and offense so we could play Florida State on Tuesday night. [School administrators] know my opinion. It's not easy to do. It's a tough situation. I don't think anybody in the country has attempted to do that."

Per Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, Boston College returned to practice from a program pause on Saturday. The Eagles are 3-10 overall and 1-6 in ACC play.
