The Cavaliers have signed undrafted forward Chaney Johnson to an Exhibit 10 contract, according to Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com.
Johnson, a 6-foot-7 wing from Auburn, was a steady presence during the Tigers’ Final Four run this past spring.
Though he mostly came off the bench, he averaged 9.1 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists across 38 appearances in 2024-25, shooting an efficient 56.7% from the field and 70.4% from the foul line. He also chipped in on defense with 0.9 blocks and 0.7 steals per game.
The Exhibit 10 deal gives Johnson a shot to make the Cavaliers’ roster out of training camp, though more likely, it positions him to begin the season with the G League’s Cleveland Charge. If he sticks there for at least 60 days, he’ll be eligible for a bonus of up to $85,000.
Cleveland added two players in this year’s second round — Duke guard Tyrese Proctor at No. 49 and Italian prospect Saliou Niang at No. 58.
It’s clear the Cavs are looking to build out their developmental pipeline with both draft picks and high-upside fliers like Johnson.
