While the transfer portal has become one of the fastest ways to inject talent into a team in the offseason, the increasing number of international prospects electing to pursue the collegiate route remains a viable option.

A recent list from 247Sports’ Adam Finkelstein highlighted the top international commits in the Class of 2025, four of whom are committed to Big 12 programs.

ANDREJ KOSTIC – KANSAS STATE

“Kostic is one of the best 2006-born prospects who opted not to declare for the NBA Draft this year,” Finkelstein wrote. “At 6-foot-7, he’s built like a big wing and will probably defend that position as well, but has legitimate guard-type skills. He’s very fluid with the ball, both as a handler and with his shooting stroke. He won a gold medal at the 2023 European U18 Championships, had a strong showing at the ANGT, and put up big numbers late in the season in Serbia this year.”

SIDI GUEYE – ARIZONA

“A long and athletic lefty big man, Gueye stands just under 7-feet tall with a 7-foot-4 wingspan and quick springs,” Finkelstein wrote. “His archetype is that of a shot-blocker, lob threat, and rim-runner. That’s a translatable role, but Gueye is still just 17 years old and nowhere near as physically mature as some players on this list. Consider him a top-50 caliber prospect, but one who may require some patience.”

HONORABLE MENTIONS

While just 10 international prospects received write-ups from Finkelstein, a large group of players were listed under the “Other Names to Know” category. That group included two more Big 12 commits, Iowa State’s Dominykas Pleta and Arizona State’s Andrija Grbovic.

It’s never easy to anticipate what the immediate impact will be for international prospects making the jump to one of college basketball’s toughest conferences. Still, with players like Egor Demin, Henri Veesaar, and many others succeeding in the Big 12 last year, the door is open for the next wave of elite international athletes.
