The Florida basketball team is proving to be a force to be reckoned with as they continue to rack up wins. Yesterday, they added to their winning streak with a victory over the Missouri Tigers.

The Gators’ defense played a key role in the win, shutting down Missouri’s top three-point shooters and holding them to a low shooting percentage from beyond the arc. D’Moi Hodge and Kobe Brown were two of the top shooters in the country but were extremely limited last night. Hodge was 1-5, and Brown was just 1-3.

The Gators, on the other hand, had a strong game from three-point range. Will Richard and Riley Kugel led the team with multiple three-pointers each. The Gators went 10-23 from long ranges as a team, which is a 43.5% rate. If Florida’s shooting keeps improving, this offense can become lethal.

Florida basketball: Best player performances

Colin Castleton had a standout performance with a double-double and Myreon Jones contributed with key plays on both offense and defense. Not to brag about calling the Castleton breakout game, but I hit that on the head on the podcast previewing this game.

Riley Kugel put up 13 points as he continues to flash his potential. Myreon Jones scored eight to go along with four rebounds and five assists. And Will Richard was the leading scorer with 18 points on 4-6 from downtown.

This win was Florida’s first against a ranked team this year. They’re now 10-7 with a 3-2 record in SEC play. Their record may only improve over the next two weeks as their schedule doesn’t have a ranked team on it until the SEC-BIG 12 challenge on February 28th.

This Wednesday the Gators head out to College Station looking for revenge on the Aggies. With their newfound offense, they may be in good shape to even up the season series.
