Gonzaga Coach Mark Few Attends NBA Finals Game 4 to Watch Former Players

There's very little Mark Few has not accomplished in his quarter century as head coach of the Gonzaga men's basketball program.

While a national title still eludes him, Few has done everything else at Gonzaga - putting this small school in Spokane, WA squarely on the college basketball map. He's led the program to 25 straight NCAA Tournament appearances, a pair of national championship runs, and had a nine year streak of making the Sweet 16 snapped last year.

Coach Few has also excelled at putting players into the NBA, with Gonzaga one of a handful of teams with double-digit players currently in the league, and the only program with starters on both teams in the NBA Finals.

Few opted to take in some of the action on Friday, attending Game 4 between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers to see former Zags Chet Holmgren and Andrew Nembhard.

Holmgren and the Thunder stormed back from a double-digit deficit in the fourth quarter to secure the win and even the series at 2-2, giving OKC home court advantage for the final three games.

Holmgren had 14 points and 15 rebounds in the win, shooting 4-9 from the field and a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line. He finished a game-high +14 in the box score, and played outstanding on-ball defense in the closing minutes to help his team complete the comeback.

Holmgren and Nembhard are the first two Zags under Few's tenure to start in an NBA Finals game, joining John Stockton as the only Gonzaga players to do so in program history.

Few has seen former players make the NBA Finals before, including Adam Morrison, Austin Daye, Ronny Turiaf, and Kelly Olynyk, but this season is a clear milestone for the program and a sign of things to come.

Not only will Holmgren and Nembhard compete for more Finals appearances over the next decade, Gonzaga's other NBA stars like Domantas Sabonis (Sacramento), Jalen Suggs (Orlando), and Julian Strawther (Denver) will be knocking on the door as well.
